I'm at my grandparents' house in MD posting on their computer. It's good to be back home. Took a shuttle bus to the Metro station, then hopped a train to where I needed to go. My uncle came and picked me up. So far I've seen my grandparents, both uncles, and one of my cousins. I would've seen my aunt, but she had some, um, Valentine's day plans. heh. She might drop by the hotel with me in the morning.
My old house hasn't changed, save for a few cosmetic enhancements. I'm going through the shed tonight to see if I can find my old Colecovision and Atari games and consoles. The neighborhood's grown immensely. Tons and tons of housing out here now. My cousin's becoming a gamer like me. I inspire future generations xD.
On the con end of things, Katsucon's pretty cool. It's about on par with AWA. We made it to Virginia in about 10 hours overnight, only stopping at gas station to stretch our legs. I haven't bought much--yet--while my friend blew $300 in under 10 minutes. 0_0 I do hate the Hilton hotel though. You have to pay for EVERYTHING. Want Wifi? money. TV? empty that wallet, sucka.

Ok ok, so I won't be seeing that movie this weekend. That will wait till next, as I will be spending the weekend at Katsucon in Virginia with some friends. I was invited to go a month ago, and I had nothing better to do. When in doubt, just fuck it.
There are three main reasons why I'm going. One, Georgia's bottom-tier trash, so any chance to actually leave its boundaries is welcome. Two, it's my first con outside of GA. I've only been to Dragoncon and AWA. New environment, new people, new experiences. Oh, and the YMCK concert. I'm not into anime that much anymore (Nothing worth watching save for a few titles), but the culture's still cool. Lastly, I was born in MD. The locale of the con happens to be about 20-30 min away from where most of my family lives. I'm going to try and visit them at least for a little while.
Much fun will be had. |

I've found my spiritual connection. It is through Capoeira.
It hit me today during our music training during the first song we sang. I dunno what it was about that particular song, but I started feeling a REALLY strong connection to Mother Earth and her children. It's as if she started speaking to me through the musicI'. It was a great sensation. I've always considered myself spiritual (not religious) in a general sense. Capoeira's providing me an outlet to express that spirituality now, both through the music and through the fight.
I also ended up taking a couple of pictures with "Asshole Santa", as he's called, in Little Five Points. They were having free photo ops with him in Criminal Records. One of the guys there asked me if I was ready to take my pic with him, to which I inquired if it cost anything. It didn't. I figured, why the hell not. I might post them when they send them to my email. Might. |

I just felt like taking a pic of this randomly after my Capoeira training yesterday. There are many murals like this in Little Five Points. This one, to me, symbolizes the multicultural, artistic, and religious unity shared by everyone in and around that area. A forward-thinking community, trapped in a backwards-ass state. Did I mention how much I loved L5P?
In other news, Gears of War 2 is fantastic.
